Parish Groups / Ministry > Parish Religious Education Program (PREP)

What is PREP?

This acronym stands for Parish Religious Education Program. This program provides religious instruction for children who attend the public schools from Grade one to seven. It is a seven - year program in most parishes in the Vancouver Archdiocese. This program incorporates the 3 sacraments of Initiation, First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion in Prep 2 and Confirmation in Prep 7.

When is PREP?

Prep is held during the regular school year, September to June each Wednesday evening from 7:00pm to 8:15pm.

What is the cost?

There is a nominal fee that covers the cost of the books and materials needed for the program, $120 per child, $160 for 2 children and $200 for 3 children. There is an early registration discount if registered before June 30. See the PREP Registration Form.

About the program

Parents are acknowledged as the primary educators of their children. The PREP program is provided to facilitate the development of each child’s faith journey over a period of seven years. Each Prep level has at least one catechist or a team of catechists. We also have a “catch-up” class for any student who hasn’t had any previous catechesis.

Our program is run entirely by volunteers. If you wish to help out, please contact our Prep Coordinator, Rayda Jalandoon, tel 778-297-0133.
